I didn't make it to the top of Pen Y Fan that day. By the time I'd reached the base of the final ascent to Corn Du (Pen Y Fan's neighbour) the wind was blowing so hard I could barely stand. Ordinarily, when I've gone out at sunrise and come home empty handed I can get very frustrated but on this occasion, this wasn't the way I saw it.
